UCU's running committee
We run a variety of different distances, catering to all levels ranging from beginners who want to try out running for the first time, to more experienced runners that wish to challenge themselves further. We generally divide our runners into groups according to their experience or the distance they feel up for – we want you to have fun doing what makes you feel comfortable!
There is even more good news: throughout the year, we participate in several official runs, such as the Singelloop, Utrecht Science Park Run or the Zevenheuvelenloop in Nijmegen. These are great to serve as goals to work towards. Those of us that sign up for a run can train and go to the event together, making it a highly social and entertaining excursion. In the spring and summer, we also love to run to the creek and jump in to cool off. While we do run the majority of our meetings, it is also possible that we do alternative workouts or play games like Ultimate Frisbee, just to mix it up a bit. Once a semester, we have the opportunity to get a lesson in running technique from a top coach near Utrecht, and it is always very informative. Last, but definitely not least, we proudly present to you the one-and-only Pancake Run, a great chance to meet fellow runners of all levels and enjoy delicious pancakes. Our experience tells us that pancakes are highly motivational during running and people don’t feel guilty about eating them after a nice jog.
